Gold-based pricing for WooCommerce
A WooCommerce plugin that calculates jewellery prices from the gold rate, product weight and catalogue pricing rules.
One rate. Different weights. Different prices.
See how the gold rate and a product's weight change the example price.
Variation A2.2 g
Variation B3.4 g
2.2 gCHF 241.45
3.4 gCHF 373.15
Illustrative prices use gold rate × weight only. Actual shop prices use the configured catalogue rules.
A change in the gold rate does not produce one new price for every piece of jewellery. Weight and the catalogue's pricing category matter too. We built a WooCommerce plugin that brings those inputs together, so each product's displayed price follows the rules set for it.
The rules live with the products.
A product can have its own weight in grams and pricing category. For variable products, those details can be set on each variation or inherited from the parent. The plugin combines them with a configurable pricing matrix to calculate prices for simple products and variations. It also has fallback prices for certain categories if an entry is missing from the matrix.
The calculation runs when a price is needed and the result is cached. It does not rewrite the stored price on every product whenever the gold rate changes. That keeps the calculation connected to the catalogue rules in one place.
The gold rate can be entered or retrieved.
An administrator can enter the rate manually or configure an API source. In API mode, the plugin supports a scheduled daily refresh with later retries, as well as a refresh triggered by a site request. If retrieval fails, it keeps the last saved rate rather than replacing it with an empty value.
The plugin includes configuration screens for the rate and pricing matrix, along with tests for the price calculation. The available code shows how it is designed to calculate prices; it does not establish how many products use it in a live shop or what results it has produced there.
